If your visiting the US, can you stay a little longer without telling anyone?

If my bf is visiting me from the UK on a roundtrip ticket, can he stay a week or so longer and just buy another ticket home? Or will they not let him back if he does that??
He doesnt have a visa, just a passport and already has tickets and will be here this weekend.

As long as it is for a short period of time I don’t even think it is illegal. If he was on a Visa and the Visa expired it is illegal-but homeland security has so much other stuff they are focused on that unless he gets stopped by the cops and asked for ID that won’t ever be an issue.

I have a Friend that is an Indian National and was on a Student Visa which expired on him-he had to fly to Toronto to enter the country again legally to get it renewed-no problem there.
