Electric Battery

How to enable wi-fi with battery on but without electric plugged in?
I have a HP Compaq Presario V3000. My problem is that I cannot use the wireless LAN without plugging in the electric supply (battery is still 100% charged). With the electric plugged in, the wireless works just fine. Was it a hardwared issue or does it seems more like a battery drain issue, i.e. not enough power to drive the wireless transeiver.
Check your power profiles in the Control Panel. It sounds to me like it has been set to not use wireless while on battery power. This is usually an option for laptops to conserve battery power in order to extend the period of use before recharge is needed. Probably outlined in your User Guide that came with the laptop.
If this can not be switched, contact HP.
